DON'T SELL OUT? Yeah, that's what folks without tickets were prayin at the Skate Ranch last Sunday! Because those who made it in got to see the Trauma Queens duke it out with the Debutante Brawlers for the First in Fightin' Crown. It was a tight match at the end of the first period with the teams tied at 66 points. In the end, it was the Trauma Queens who pulled out the gusto to take the title at 138-131! That's a high scorin' game ya'll!

Not only did our 720-capacity crowd get to see derby girls barrelling at them & hitting the floor - Chapel Hill's Valient Thorr put on an amazing show that proved rock stars ain't afraid of a little rink rash either! DJ Midnite Cowbwoy added an adrenalin-pumpin' soundtrack to the thrills & spills.

Start learning our little derby secrets!
The star jammers for the Debs were Roxy Rockett with an amazing 64 points & Teflon Donna with 41. Wow! Yet the Queen's jammers showed Raleigh that getting the initial lead jam position can give you the extra edge. Why? Because the lead jammer controls when the jam ends! If her opponent is about to slip by & score big - she can end it then & there! So pay attention at the May 22 bout when Rockerboy or Rev. Lawndart announce the lead jammer! Trauma Queen Eva Lye, scoring 39 points, fought hard for her 67% lead jammer wins. Violet Femme scored 39 points and Kama Suture brought in 35 with a 43% lead jam winning streak for the Queens. Overall, the Queens won 43% of lead jams & the Debs 25%. The remaining went to those torturous no-lead-jammer 2-minute jams. Fans, that's when it's time to pull out the defense!

How did the Debs keep the game so close? BLOCKING! Our stats show the Debs edged out the Queens on offensive blocking, jammer take-outs, and assistive pushes to their jammers. Julie Jawbreaker, Leadfoot, Roxy Rockett & Militia dominated the blocker's stats. Ms. Anthrope the Mordant always brings a tough game of blocks & hits to the Queens defense - that is, when she's not growling in the penalty box!

This is why these teams are such a great matchup! There's NO TELLING who will come out on top in the May 22 bout - The Battle of Midway!

I hope ya'll enjoyed the game from the sidelines as much as I did! Thanks for coming out & don't forget - BUY THOSE TICKETS IN ADVANCE!!! THERE'S NO CRYIN' IN ROLLER DERBY!

Love to my rockin & rollin Brawleigh, NC family!
