What happens when you take all the Carolina Rollergirls, split them into three teams and pit them against each other? We like to call it home teams. Remember the Tai Chi-tahs, ninja assassins with the spirit of feline prowess, the Trauma Queens, emergency room nurses with a bad habit of making their own patients, and the Debutante Brawlers, our princesses with rhinestone-bedazzled brass knuckles? Well, they're baaack!

The Carolina Rollergirls' intraleague teams took a little breather for 2009. So don't be confused if you've never heard of 'em. Before we skated in Dorton we kept it real at the Ranch, the Skate Ranch that is. Get a little taste of the good ol' days with three Sunday matinees of derby drama. First up this Sunday, the 31st, the Tai Chi-Tahs and the Trauma Queens go skate-to-skate on the hardwood. The stealthy ninjas have been sharpening their throwing stars in preparation. Meanwhile, the ER nurses are stocking their first-aid kits with a dose of southern hospital-ity. But who will claim victory?

We really mixed things up when we picked the hometeams this time, shuffling the deck of veteran skaters with a fantastic new crop of freshmeat and rookies. Study our teams page to see where your favorite skaters landed.

Keep your schedules straight.

Since the Carolina Rollergirls are playing at two venues this year, make sure you show up to the right place on bout day! The Skate Ranch is where you'll see our home teams play each other. And Dorton Arena, on the NC Fairgrounds, is where you'll see our a-team, the Carolina All-Stars, and our b-team, the Carolina Bootleggers, take on out-of-towners from across North America (like Montreal in April).
