Carolina Rollergirls Place 4th at Nationals!
CRG placed fourth at the first-ever Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Nationals Tournament, held September 29 & 30 at the Austin (TX) Convention Center.
CRG advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Tucson Roller Derby in the opening round. Prior to the tournament, the Tucson league was ranked No. 2 in the nation; the Carolina Rollergirls were ranked No. 7.
In an extremely close game, the Carolina Rollergirls were defeated by the Kansas City Roller Warriors in the semi-final round. The team from Kansas City went on to win the tournament by upsetting the Rat City Rollergirls of Seattle in the finals.
CRG faced the Texas Rollergirls (Austin, TX) in their final game of the tournament, which determined third place. Despite an extremely close battle between the two leagues at recent home game, several injuries left the CRG bench short, which allowed the Texas team to take the consolation game handily.
CRG finished in fourth place overall, defeating Tuscon Roller Derby 80–73, and losing to the Kansas City Rollergirls and Texas Rollergirls, 108–116 and 46–110, respectively.
Many thanks to the super fans who made the trip to Austin and lost your voices cheering us on! We played our hearts out for each and every one of you.
We're Ready to Brawl, Y'all
