Posted on: Jun 14, 2011

Matt Nisbet won our sticker design contest! His design was created using Adobe Photoshop.

Matt’s Stats:

Age: 24

Birthplace:  Southern Ontario. He moved to NC when just a tot and grew up splitting time between Raleigh and Southern Ontario.

Occupation: Full time student at Wake Tech. He is studying Anthropology.

Hobbies: Playing bass guitar, photography & photo editing

Favorite local bar & restaurant: Sawmill Taproom.

Favorite TV Show: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Favorite place in North Carolina: Boone, NC

When asked “When was the last time you went rollerskating?” He replied “Probably at some one’s birthday party when I was nine.”

Matt’s sport of choice growing up was ice hockey, where he played mostly defense.  The last time Matt was on ice skates was about a year and a half ago.

Fun Fact: HE HAS DRIVEN A ZAMBONI! Matt worked as the Manager of an ice rink in Greensboro NC. He got to drive the Zamboni regularly!

What Matt loves about women’s flat track roller derby:  “The game moves quick & the rules are interesting.”

His first roller derby experience ever was with the Carolina Rollergirls at the May 21 Derby Expo at Dorton Arena! Matt came to the all day derby fest with a friend who is the younger brother of a Carolina Rollergirl. He was happy he got to see many games at the expo – that was a good first time experience and helped him understand the sport.

The Carolina Rollergirls would like to thank Matt Nisbet for his sticker design and send a shout out to our other contestants – thanks guys!

The Carolina Rollergirls can be seen in Raleigh for the third annual SponsorSip Pub crawl on June 18th, 2011. We’ll be traipsing through our sponsors’ establishments and if you’re lucky, maybe we’ll give you a one of our cool new stickers. ;)
