Teams You've Played For: Debutante Brawlers.

How did you find derby?: My very first introduction to derby was watching RollerJam on TV when I was a kid. In 2010, I peeked in on the Got to Be NC Festival at Dorton Arena. At the beginning of 2012, some friends of mine said, "Let's try out for roller derby!" A few weeks later, I enrolled in Ballista Blockheart's Friday night derby classes at Jellybeans in Cary, and the rest is history.

Sports Background: Basketball, volleyball, track.

Best Fresh Meat Moment: During a scrimmage, I was standing on the jammer line about to jam for my team. Back in the day when we had minor penalties, the jam ref would hold out a hand to signal to the jammer how many minors they had before the jam started. Thrashley, my jam ref, held out a fist to signify zero minors. I thought she was offering a fist bump for encouragement so I skated over and fist bumped her and then went back to my spot on the line. Everyone laughed and then Thrashley explained what she was doing. At another scrimmage, I was runted (held behind the opposing team's wall) and Ms. Anthrope the Mordant was jamming for the other team. I've heard Mordant yell, "KILL THE JAMMER!" enough that it kicked in when she skated by me. I guess she wasn't expecting a runt to do anything, but I hit her as hard as I could, and she (albeit briefly) fell out of bounds. My team yelled, "Go Carver!!" and I was so excited that I knocked Mordant down that I don't think I did anything else useful for the rest of the jam.

Favorite Derby Memory: Skating in my first invitational. I was so incredibly nervous and didn't know what to expect. Many of my teammates were there watching, and as soon as the announcer said my name when he introduced the lineup, they cheered and screamed for me so loudly that all the nerves went away. I had a blast.

Likes: Lindy hop and other old-timey swing dances, collecting music from the 1920's - 1940's, DJing, vintage clothing, cooking, traveling.

Name Inspiration: The original actress who played Wonder Woman - Lynda Carter. When I worked in Nashville, TN, I often walked to lunch. One day, a homeless man yelled at me from across a four lane street and said, "HEYYYYY WONDER WOMAN! YOU WANNA HAVE MY BABIES?" I politely declined and when I returned to work, I told my coworkers what happened. One of them said, "You know, you do resemble Lynda Carter." Ever since then, many of my friends have called me Wonder Woman or Lynda.

Food Before a Bout: Something healthy and plenty of water.

If you could have any super power, what would it be? I'm Wonder Woman. I already fly an invisible jet and have a lasso that forces people to tell the truth. I guess if I could spin in a circle to change from my regular clothes to derby gear, that would be pretty neat.
